About the Founder

I’m Josh Kilgas, and my journey in the nonprofit sector has been diverse and deeply rewarding. From hands-on roles to executive leadership and board service, I’ve seen firsthand the unique challenges nonprofit leaders face. You raise your hand when others don’t, taking on the most complex issues we face—issues that other sectors aren’t designed to address. You tirelessly lead your organizations, serving those left behind and enhancing the quality of life in our communities. While you face those wicked external problems, you also face the organizational challenges that come with being a leader.

However, in my various roles, I’ve repeatedly seen leaders and organizations without the support and resources they need and deserve. This inspired me to create Solutions for Changemakers to help organizations and their leaders pave clearer paths and provide the support necessary to create lasting change in our communities.I’m here to support you, the Changemakers, on the front line. Together, we can navigate these complexities and build a stronger, more effective sector. Your success is our success, and we’re in this together.

Testimonials

“When our small United Way faced a series of staffing, economic, and governance challenges, we knew we needed a true expert—someone with deep problem-solving skills, strong connections, and extensive United Way knowledge. Through United Way NEXT, we connected with Josh Kilgas, and in just six months, he has transformed our operations. He implemented sustainable processes, introduced best practices for resource development and fundraising, ensured all compliance deadlines were met, and played a crucial role in our executive director search. I highly recommend Josh and would be happy to speak on his behalf.”

-Jessica Jacobson, President, United Way of Dodge County

“Josh brings such a breadth and depth of experience to his consulting work, along with a keen ability to diagnose situations. He is equally skilled and assured when advising small grassroots nonprofits as he is with long-established organizations. I see Josh as a believer in the power of human beings to ‘bend the arc’ toward justice through nonprofits—while also recognizing that it takes hard change work for this to happen.”
